Welcome to the School of Business and Economics

A Milestone for the School of Business and Economics

The School of Business and Economics is proud to contribute to the first batch of University of Embu PhD graduands in this Graduation Ceremony. During its inception in 2014, the School had only one undergraduate programme (Bachelor of Commerce) and two postgraduate programmes (Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in Business and Administration). The School can now boast of five undergraduate programmes (Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Economics and Statistics, Bachelor of Science in Finance, and Bachelor of Purchasing and Supply Management). In the academic year 2019/2020, one undergraduate programme and three postgraduate programmes will be brought on board (Master of Economics, Master of Science in Project Planning and Management and Ph.D in Project Planning and Management) to bring the total undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to six and five respectively. The School has not been left behind in diploma, certificate and professional courses relevant to the job market. We have developed diploma courses in Project Planning, Purchasing and Supplies and Business Management with IT, and certificate courses in Purchasing and Supplies and Business Management with IT.

School of Business & Economics Linkages

The School has also partnered with KASNEB to offer CPA courses. The School has also excelled in industry partnerships and extension. Among other linkages, the School has partnered with the Institute of Economic Affairs and the Kenya School of Government, looks forward to more partnerships in the near future. In its outreach mission, the School trained entrepreneurs from Embu County on 27th March, 2019. Topics covered ranged from book-keeping and taxation, detection of business failure and mitigation measures and managerial skills required to run a business.

Linkages - Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)

The School has been partnering with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in iTax training of Business students who go out to assist the public in filing their tax returns.  The School has also partnered with KASNEB and is offering KASNEB courses. In addition, plans are underway to sign an MoU with the Institute of Economic Affairs.
